Lokanta 1741

OVERVIEW

Lokanta 1741 welcomes guests at one of the most surprising settings for a restaurant: inside a Turkish hammam complex! Well, not quite “inside” though. The restaurant shares the same marble entrance gate with the 300-year-old Cağaloğlu Hamam, while a rabbit-hole-like corridor would later take you into this hidden restaurant occupying some interconnected cozy dining halls, courtyards and terrace garden overlooking the magnificent hammam domes. The menu consists of traditional Turkish appetizers, mezes, pides, sea-food and kebab dishes prepared with a creative spin, as well as Ottoman-inspired cocktails and a carefully selected local wine list. Please bear in mind that the restaurant has a lunch and a separate dinner menu which has more varieties and options.

An amazing fact about Lokanta 1741

The premises of the restaurant was formerly used as a bar in the 80s to 90s, frequented by journalists, writers, graphic designers and workers of the publishing and print houses that once populated the Cağaloğlu neighborhood, which has traditionally been the center of press since Ottoman times.
